Mold Biotoxin & Fungal Count Testing

This test detects toxic mycotoxins produced by mold, which can settle on surfaces and impact health. A medical-grade swab collects samples from surfaces, analyzed by Real-Time Labs in Carrollton, TX. Results identify five toxic mycotoxins and provide a fungal spore count, detailing mold families present.

ERMI Testing

The Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) test analyzes settled dust to quantify mold spores using mold-specific quantitative PCR. This provides an index score comparing your home’s mold levels to national data. Samples are processed by Mycometrics in Monmouth Junction, NJ, or EnviroBiomics in San Antonio, TX, upon request. A HERTSMI score can also be derived from ERMI results.

HERTSMI Testing

HERTSMI focuses on five molds known to be particularly harmful to humans: Aspergillus Penicilloides, Aspergillus Versicolor, Chaetomium Globosum, Stachybotrys Chartarum, and Wallemia Sebi. Dust samples are analyzed by Mycometrics or EnviroBiomics to assess the presence and levels of these molds.

Wall Cavity Mold Testing

When mold is suspected behind walls, we conduct wall cavity air sampling. A small hole is drilled, and air is drawn through a straw-like adapter into a testing medium over five minutes. Samples are analyzed by IMS Labs in Commerce Twp, MI, to determine hidden mold presence.

Lift Tape Sample Testing

For visible mold on surfaces, we use lift tape samples to identify specific mold types. A biological tape collects samples from the surface, which are then analyzed by IMS Labs to determine mold species and coverage percentages.

Mold Spore Air Testing

We assess airborne mold spores by drawing 15 liters of air through a cassette over five minutes. IMS Labs examines the samples under a microscope, providing a detailed report on mold families present and spore concentrations per cubic meter.
